American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland (ACLU)

The ACLU is a non-profit legal aid organization that handles various civil rights issues, including free speech free association, freedom of religion, privacy, equal treatment under the law, and due process violations.

 

Disability Rights Maryland 

(formerly the Maryland Disability Law Center)

Disability Rights Maryland is a non-profit mandated to advance the civil rights of people with disabilities.  DRM provides free legal services to Marylanders of any age with all types of disabilities (developmental, intellectual, psychiatric, physical, sensory, learning, traumatic brain injury), who live in facilities, in the community, or who are homeless.

 

Maryland Legal Aid

Legal Aid is a private, non-profit law firm providing free legal services to low-income people statewide, serving Baltimore City and Maryland’s 23 counties from 13 offices.

 

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS)

MVLS provides free legal representation to Marylanders. MVLS also provides free legal help for community-based nonprofits that are working to strengthen low-income communities in Maryland.

 

Neighborhood Defenders (Baltimore City only)

Provides services to people who have used the Public Defenders Office for their charges. For information, call 410/367-1631. The office is located at 4151 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore MD 21215.

 

Women's Law Center (WLC)

The Women's Law Center is a leading voice for justice and fairness for women that advocates for the protection and expansion of women's rights through legal assistance to individuals and strategic initiatives to achieve systemic change. They are a non-profit organization that provides free legal representation and education programs to protect and empower individual women and their families.
